DESCRIPTION:The Gainesville Fine Arts Association presents ‘florida/woman’ by Jessica Carter\, which will be on display in our main gallery from July 29 – August 8 \nJoin us in celebrating this exhibit during Artwalk on July 31\, 7 – 10pm alongside ‘Drink n Draw: A Community Exhibition’ in our front gallery \n‘florida/woman’ is a body of photographic self-portraits focused on Carter’s experience as a trans woman who has chosen to remain in Florida. This series is about feeling trapped in a beloved home that also wants you dead. A quintessential Florida experience only heightened; the wild joy mixed with eerie foreboding we all feel when venturing deep into nature. Her project makes visible the relationship between the trans body and the local environment\, imbuing the landscape with an embodied politics. \nThis exhibition is part of a series of two week long artist-curated exhibitions at GFAA \nAll exhibitions are free and open to the public.\nLocal art for sale in the exhibition & our new-&-improved gift shop! \n1314 S Main Street\, Gainesville\, FL\nAdditional parking is available at the grocery store lot next door & street parking on Main Street
