SUMMARY:The Gainesville Fine Arts Association presents 'Have You Seen This Frog?' by Ezekiel Abassa
DESCRIPTION:The Gainesville Fine Arts Association presents ‘Have You Seen This Frog?’ by Ezekiel Abassa\, which will be on display in our main gallery from August 12 – August 21 \nJoin us for the opening reception on August 14\, 6 – 8pm\, alongside ‘Never Returning’ by Paul Shortt’ in our front gallery \nEzekiel Abassa’s oil pastel works explore the nature of moving through seasons. At any given moment we are at the beginning (the tadpole)\, in the middle of growing\, or at the end of a cycle (the mature frog.) The artist observes how easily we regress\, slipping back to the beginning\, even when we mean to move forward. Growth is rarely as linear as we intend it to be. Each piece in this body of work depicts a state the person inside it cannot fully see from within. The frog is the witness in every painting\, and the viewer is asked to find it. The real question is whether they recognize themselves. \nAll exhibitions are free and open to the public.\nLocal art for sale in the exhibition & our new-&-improved gift shop! \n1314 S Main Street\, Gainesville\, FL\nAdditional parking is available at the grocery store lot next door & street parking on Main Street\nThis exhibition is part of a series of two week long artist-curated exhibitions at GFAA
